Save water by eliminating the wait for hot water to reach the faucet. Simply tap into the water line and install the heater directly at the sink. No need for expensive recirculating lines and pumps. And when you want to eliminate the wait for hot water but need more volume, install the EcoSmart heater in-line with a bigger hot water source, like a tankless heater or a storage tank heater. Lightweight and compact, these units plug into a regular 110 volt outlet.
I got this for use in a bathroom (vanity) serving two sinks. It’s ideal for an installation like mine where there’s both a long distance from the (instant) hot water heater and the bathroom. If (like me) you’re in the habit of washing your hands with hot water, it’ll really decrease the amount of water you use while waiting for the hot water to come from the hot water heater (if you have a tank or instant hot water heater as I do), to the sink. It is about the same size as a (Franke brand) instant hot water heater I have. Having both in a bathroom vanity takes up the bulk of the space in the vanity (cabinet) because they’re both quite big. In my case this unit serves both sinks (which rarely get used simultaneously), and I use the instant hot water tap for boiling hot water (for tea or such). You can be tempted to use an outlet in your vanity for the instant hot water tap to also power this device. I greatly recommend against this. This unit is rated at 12A and the instant hot water tank I have is rated at about 15A. They clearly could draw too much current on a 20A circuit. Your choice is a dedicated 15A or 20A circuit. In either case it must be on a GFCI protected circuit. In my case, I had planned for this in advance with two separate dedicated 20A GFCI circuits. You may want to install a shutoff valve before the tank (not after), so you may be able to take it out of service without turning off the hot water for your whole house. At about 11A (at 120v) it’s pretty energy economical. But that is the max when it’s on. It’ll not be on all of the time and you may be able to decrease the amount of time it’s on by lowering the setting.
We have a nice little bar/cooking area on our deck with a couple of outlets and two cupboards. Since we are in the Midwest, the plumbing connections are temporary – we use a garden hose for the water supply. The sink was too small and had only cold water – till now. My 1st step was to weatherproof the cabinet – I knew this heater was on the was on the way, so did that earlier in the week. Since we have a big pond I have lots of pond liner trimmings. I used this to weatherproof the the cabinet, then added some cement board. Finished off with some spare tile. Next I swapped out the sink with a plastic bar sink and a spare kitchen faucet I had lying around. I used Y splitter and dishwater hoses to connect the hot and cold – and some adapters. I have to take the heater indoors throughout the winter, and drain the hoses. I installed everything in advance, so it only took about 10 minutes to hook up the heater. This heater is great – and it is easy to use. One dial sets the heat and is the power switch. When we are not outside I keep the heater turned off. Planning on a party, spending time at the bar, etc. I will turn it on. The water heats up pretty fast. I have tried it 30 minutes after turning it on and the water was hot. This heater is ideal for places when you may be able to (or only want to) run only a cold water line or want instant hot water. I was considering putting it under our kitchen sink, however we are too tight on space there. This way we’d have instant hot water while the water from the tank in the basement winds it is way to the sink. Installation is easy. If you are useful or have any experience with plumbing you will find it simple. The heater uses 1/2″ pipe fittings.
I tested the unit as a booster for hot water to my kitchen sink. Our kitchen sink isn’t the furthest sink from our water heater, however it could have to do since it’s the only area where we have a 110v outlet. Once you know how you’re going to be using the water heater installation is easy. The other thing to think about is the tank size you may want. The Ecosmart ECO comes in four tank sizes; 1 gal, 2 gal, 4 gal, and 6 gal tank sizes. The difference between the four models is the dimensions. So measure the place 1st. Amazingly the prices of the four models isn’t consistent with the tank size. The least costly model (at the time of this writing) was the 2. 5 gal model. The 1 gal and the 4 gal models were the same price, while the 6 gal was only 30 more. So, plan ahead. All four models use the same 1400 watt heating element. I don’t know if that will influence performance in the bigger models. The heater works great we have hot water now which most likely saved us a couple of gallons of water with our old galvanized pipes. I like that I can set the temp and there isn’t just one standard temp. After hooking the system up it dawned on me some other scenarios where this heater can be useful:1. To add hot water to a garage sink or outside sink (at a BBQ island) that’s only fed by coldwater. By splicing into the cold water line and redirecting the output from the water heater to the hot water output you may have a small supply of hot water at those sinks. 2. For a temporary sink. Alike to the permanent outdoor sink, if you have a temporary need for a sink this may be set up as your temporary heat source. At our church we have outdoor events.

150 Liter Standard Passive Duda Solar Attached Pressurized Tank Evacuated Tubes Hot
Pressurized Passive Solar Water Heater with Attached Tank Passive solar water heaters use vacuum tubes with heat pipes and an attached water tank for direct heating of potable water. Sunlight enters the tubes, converting into heat at 94 efficiency, and is then carried up through the heat pipe to the manifold which heats the water inside of the attached water tank. Water is supplied at the inlet from city/well water, heated, then fed directly into the hot water plumbing of the building. This unit will include an electric backup water heating element and a TK-7Y controller. The passive solar water heater controller can be used for timing of the backup water heating and display of the tank temperature. Settings on the controller help prevent heating water when hot water won’t be needed, like throughout 4 in the morning. This gives the user the capability to only use electrical backup heating when it can be needed, giving the sun a chance to replenish heat. These heaters are well-liked for use in southern parts of America. For applications in more northern regions where freezing is common, it’s best to use split active solar water heater systems. This unit heats the domestic water directly. The tank’s hot water outlet connects straight to the home hot water tap. Painted/Galvanized solar water heaters are adequate in most general applications. 304 stainless steel tank/stand heaters can be needed for corrosive environments like on a beach where spray from sea water from the wind can be common. The stainless steel variants have a metallic look which can be more appealing.

B3-32A 0 Plate Stainless Steel Heat Exchanger with 1" Female NPT Ports Copper Brazed
Stainless Steel Plate Heat Exchangers Brazed with 99. 9+ Pure Copper by Duda Energy Plate heat exchangers have considerably good heat move rates because they use metal plates which have high heat conductivity rates and the plates are very thin. The plate heat exchangers also accomplish high amounts of heat move through convective forces with both working fluids. With big temperature differentials, great amounts of heat move may be achieved using a plate heat exchanger. This is an very well-liked unit for wood burning furnaces, radiant floor systems, refrigerant systems, straight vegetable oil conversions, beer chilling, air conditioning system and solar water heating systems. It’ll work for any application in which the wanted result is for two fluids (liquid or gas) to exchange heat. Liquid A passes from the port on the left of the heat exchanger through every other channel produced by the plates to the reverse end port on the left of the heat exchanger (looking at it the long way). Liquid B passes from the port on the right through the other channels produced by the plates and comes out the other port on the right side. The fluids are generally touching each other through the plates and heat is moved from the hot liquid to the cold liquid. (but the fluids don’t mix).
