General description

ELMAX Blade, Hinderer-ZT Style and Toughness. Zero Tolerance and Rick Hinderer teamed up to build the 0562 with its exclusive Hinderer “slicer” grind. The ELMAX powdered steel blade with flat-ground “slicer” grind gives both slicing efficiency and a tough point. ELMAX is a 3rd-generation powdered steel with virtually no nonmetallic inclusions. That means it offers an very uniform distribution of carbides for high wear and corrosion resistance. Zero Tolerance sharpens it to a hair popping edge and the ELMAX assures it holds that edge for a long time, under hard use. The knife opens with a flipper and moves out of the handle on our smooth KVT ball-bearing opening system. A washer with caged ball bearings surrounds the pivot and makes opening the knife almost frictionless; just pull back on the flipper and add a roll of the wrist and the 0562 is prepared for action. The handle has a G-10 textured scale in front and a stonewashed titanium back. For secure lock up throughout use, ZT uses a frame lock with hardened steel lockbar inserts and lockbar stabilization so the lock will not overextend. The distinctive pocketclip is reversible (left/right) and enables extra-deep carry in the pocket. Made in the USA. KVT ball-bearing opening; Reversible deep-carry clip; Frame lock, lockbar stabilizer; Steel: ELMAX, stonewashed and satin finish; Handle: Textured G-10 front, stonewashed titanium back; Blade Length: 3. 5 in. (8. 9 cm); Closed Length: 4. 8 in. (12. 2 cm).

Recent reviews of Zero Tolerance 0562 Hinderer Slicer Knife:

I was able to find one of the very well-liked Zero Tolerance 0562CF Hinderer Slicers a month or two back. Since the carbon fiber variant of the 0562, which also has a beautiful, two-tone Bohler M390 blade, won the Blade Show 2014 Award for ‘Best American-Made Knife of the Year’, anticipation and demand have been high. It is been selling out everywhere it turns up over-night, and the regular 0562 is not much easier to find. This is the heavy-use edition, in comparison to the 0562CF. The G-10 is a tiny bit heavier – about 0. 1 oz – than the carbon fiber, however it does not get scuffed up the same way. I favor ZT’s smoother, textured G-10 over the type Spyderco favors, which is like an emory-board. And the stone-washed blade hides scratches nicely, unless they are long or deep. Elmax is not as sought after as M390, however both are super-premium steels. I favor Elmax to many of the Crucible steels, now that the heat treatment complaints that surfaced a couple years have been resolved. Alike allegations pop up all the time in the knife forums – Chris Reeve, his CPM S35VN heat treats, and the Sebenza took some flack. But Elmax is close to it is big brother M390; both are very high carbon – in comparison to a non-stainless high-carbon like 1095, which has 0. 95, Elmax has 1. 80 and M390 has 2. 00; both are high-chromium and corrosion tolerant; Elmax has 18, and M390 has 20. Most stainless steels have between 13 and 15 chromium. The only reason I was determined to find the 0562CF, instead of the 0562, was because I already owned the 0561, which has G-10 and Elmax. The M390 and carbon fiber made it different enough to rationalize the buy. Everything else is same.

1st time owning a Zero tolerance, I’m amazed how sharp it came right out of the box. Leaving the sharpness on the side. I could like to talk about my experience for this buy. Pros:Blade is right on center, no blade play ( never, not a bit, totally nothing, zero.). The flipper came a bit inflexible out of the box, after some days of use this thing just keeps to get better and better. Awesome buttery opening feeling. Live the stone wash over the polished finish. Still need cleaning, imagine the polished. ( for those who plan on using it and not saving it for showing off) I could recommend the g10( it is not that pretty as carbon fiber but gets way better traction. The finger grooves in the handle are amazing bolts into your hand perfectly and great for tactical use also as work and everyday uses. Thick tough construction. Nothing gets loose everything where it should be. Thick blade makes it feel like it’ll never break or let you down. Good jimping. Great handling for reverse grip also. EXCELENT pocket clip, deep Cary and grabs really well to the pocket but when you want to get it out it’s a breeze. Perfect lockup, real easy to push the lock bar out of the way when closing. Seems a part of art. Perfect all the way around. CONS:Box arrived a bit damaged ( not that I care but maybe that’s the usps 1st class fault)Also had a small one day delay( also USPS fault)SOO. Last things to saySo as you may be able to see there’s nothing wrong with the knife. haven’t had the chance to communicate with buyer service, so I’ll have to make an update on that afterward on when sending it to re-sharpen. In general I could recommend this knife to be the best I have owned.
